The Bulgarian company Technoglass Group, together with the German engineering concern HORN Glass Industries AG, is starting a partnership to build a float glass plant, the main market for which will be Ukraine. This was reported by Oleksandr Feldman, CEO of Technoglass Group, to Interfax-Ukraine.

Float glass is a flat sheet glass used for manufacturing windows, mirrors, automotive glass, and solar panels.

The plant will be located in the city of Burgas and will have a capacity of 800 tons of glass per day, making it one of the largest in Europe.

"The design is nearing completion, and contracts for the supply of equipment have already been signed. We plan to launch production at the end of 2027," Feldman said.

The plant will produce glass for various industries: architecture, automotive, solar panels, and electronics. Although the enterprise is export-oriented to various countries, including the UAE and Nigeria, Ukraine will be the key sales market. Preliminary agreements have already been signed for the supply of over 30 million square meters of glass annually.

"This volume confirms the enormous demand and strategic importance of the Bulgarian plant for the recovery and development of the construction industry in Ukraine. Overall, the project aims to become a flagship of the glass industry in the region and strengthen trade ties in Eastern Europe," Feldman emphasized.

  • On November 25, it was announced that the Ukrainian company NovaSklo had signed an agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The World Bank's structure will help the manufacturer attract long-term financing and implement international standards for construction of the first float glass plant in Ukraine.
