Ferrexpo suspends production due to shelling of energy facilities

London-listed Ferrexpo plc has suspended production at its Ukrainian facilities following the November 8 missile attack. The strikes on the energy infrastructure of Horishni Plavni and Kremenchuk left the mining town, where the company's plants are located, without power. This is reported by in a statement by the company.

Ferrexpo is a Swiss-based iron ore company with headquarters and assets in Ukraine. The Group produces iron ore products, which are a premium commodity for the global steel industry.

The company has been supplying the global steel industry for over 50 years. Before the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, Ferrexpo was the third largest exporter of iron ore pellets in the world.

It owns 100% of Yeristovo GOK, 99.9% of Bilanivsky GOK and 100% of Poltava GOK.

On Saturday, November 8, Russian missiles hit power transmission facilities in Horishni Plavni, a mining town in Poltava region where Ferrexpo operates, and the neighboring industrial city of Kremenchuk. As a result of the attacks, the power supply to Horishni Plavni was completely cut off .

The company reported that no one was killed or injured. However, the operations of the group's subsidiaries, Yeristovo GOK and Poltava GOK, had to be suspended due to a power outage.

Over the weekend, power supply was partially restored at both GOKs. Some units of the processing plant have already resumed operations, while efforts to fully restore power supply and production capacity continue.
