Georgia State Security Service has launched an investigation into alleged data leak regarding a government contract with Gazprom

The State Security Service of Georgia has opened criminal proceedings on charges of sabotage and unauthorized access to a computer system in connection with a possible leak of information about a government agreement with Russia's Gazprom. About this reported SSS, reports NewsGeorgia.

"The reason for initiating the investigation was information from the Georgian government administration that, most likely, the administration's website was subjected to a cyberattack and various manipulations, the purpose of which was to harm the state interests of Georgia by spreading incorrect information," the department said.

This week, Georgian media reported the appearance on the government website of information regarding the contract with Gazprom for 2025. According to preliminary data, the appendix with commercially sensitive information was mistakenly published together with the decree of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze dated December 25, 2025, after which the data disappeared from the resource.

The first to report the document was the opposition TV channel Formula. Later, information about the parameters of the agreement appeared in other media outlets. Some editorial offices reported that they had been contacted by representatives of the State Security Service with recommendations to adjust the publications in favor of the state.
