Head of Ingushetia Sentenced to Eight Years for Financing Russian Occupation Forces

A court has convicted in absentia the head of Russia’s Republic of Ingushetia, Mahmud Ali Kalimatov, for financing Russia’s war against Ukraine, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
According to the prosecution, the Russian official systematically allocated funds and resources to support the Russian occupation forces.
"On his orders, the government of Ingushetia made one-time payments to citizens who signed contracts with the Russian armed forces – ranging from 100,000 to 400,000 rubles (approximately $1,200–4,800). In addition, he directed the supply of medicines, tactical equipment, clothing, heat guns, sleeping bags – totaling 45 tons of cargo – as well as vehicles for the Russian armed forces participating in the so-called ‘special military operation’ against Ukraine," the report said.
The court sentenced Kalimatov to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
He is already under sanctions imposed by Ukraine, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
