"I am 99% sure". In 2026, the Rada will consider raising salaries for the military – Pidlasa

Verkhovna Rada to consider military salary increase in 2026, says head of budget committee Roksolana Podlasa during the consideration of the draft state budget.

"When we secure funding for the budget deficit, which is $45.5 billion, we will be able to talk about increasing defense spending. We will definitely make changes to the state budget next year, I am 99% sure of this, and we will consider increasing spending on the purchase of weapons and drones, as well as on raising the salaries of the military," said Pidlasa.

The minimum salary in the army is UAH 20,000.

It has not been revised since February 2023, when the the UAH 30,000 allowance was canceled for rear-guard soldiers.

The draft budget for 2026 allocates UAH 1.3 trillion for military personnel.

• In July 2025, it became known that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked Europe to help to finance the salaries of the military.
• In November, he said that in the new contracts, the basic financial support is planned to be raised to UAH 50,000-60,000.
