Lutnick: US government discusses buying stakes in US defense giants

Administration Donald Trump is considering acquiring stakes in major US defense companies, including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and Palantir Technologies. This was stated by US Secretary of Commerce Howard Luthnick, writes Reuters.
According to him, the White House is discussing how to finance the purchase of ammunition and strengthen the defense industry.
"Lockheed Martin gets 97% of its revenue from the US government. They are actually an extension of it"lutnik noted.
Against this backdrop, Lockheed Martin shares rose by 1.6%, Boeing by 2.8%, and Palantir by 1.4%.
"We continue our strong working relationship with President Trump and his administration to strengthen our national defense," Lockheed Martin responded.
Experts warn that such steps could lead to a conflict of interest, with the government putting the financial interests of companies ahead of strategic security decisions.
Earlier, the Trump administration had already acquired about 10% of Intel shares and stakes in rare earth metal producers, and entered into agreements with Nvidia and AMD for sales revenues in China.
- on August 25, it was reported that Intel warns of business risks through the transfer of 10% of the company to the US government.
