Norway to provide Ukraine with about $150 million for winter gas purchases

Ukraine will receive about $150 million from Norway to buy gas for the winter. This was reported by in Telegram by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who met with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

"Today we have a new package of energy support from Norway, the third this year, about $150 million for the purchase of gas in winter. Energy support is extremely important," the President wrote .
At the meeting, Støre emphasized that the Norwegian government is committed to maintaining support for Ukraine and proposed to allocate NOK 85 billion ($8.45 billion) in 2026, If the parliament approves the budget proposal, it will increase the total amount of funding for Norway's support for Ukraine to NOK 275 billion ($27.3 billion).
After the massive nighttime Russian shelling, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga called on partners to urgently provide Ukraine with energy support, including funds for the purchase of energy resources.
- In April, Naftogaz announced an urgent purchase of 1 billion cubic meters of gas for €410 million. The money for the gas purchase was received through a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (270 million euros) and grant funding from the Norwegian government through the NORAD fund (140 million euros).
- In August, Norway allocated another 1 billion Norwegian kroner (over $98 million) to Ukraine for the purchase of natural gas for the next heating season.
