Reuters: Germany to increase aid to Ukraine by 3 billion euros in 2026

Germany plans to increase financial assistance to Ukraine by about 3 billion euros in 2026. This was reported by Reuters with reference to two unnamed government sources.
Germany's finance and defense ministers will add an additional €3 billion for Ukraine to the final adjustments to the 2026 budget, the source said. This will cover the costs of artillery, drones, armored vehicles and the replacement of two Patriot systems. The second source said that Chancellor Friedrich Merz supports the plans, which are expected to be agreed upon.
"We will continue our support as long as necessary to defend against Russia's aggressive war," one of the interlocutors told the agency.
Germany is the largest European donor of military aid to Ukraine: since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, Berlin has provided about €40 billion. The German budget for 2026 provides €8.5 billion for Ukraine.
- Germany will contribute 60 million euros to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine.
- Germany will provide 400 million euros for long-range drones for Ukraine.
