The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading and in general law No. 13107-d on vocational education, which was voted for by 285 deputies. This was reported by people's deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak and prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.

The law is part of Ukraine's commitments under the Ukraine Facility. According to Svyrydenko, it opens access to about €390 million in EU support.

The document envisages the renewal of the vocational education system and the modernization of vocational schools.

According to the law, vocational colleges will be granted financial and managerial autonomy, and training programs will be developed in cooperation with businesses.

The law also introduces an independent assessment of knowledge in qualification centers, which will help train the specialists required by the modern labor market.

"The government will invest in infrastructure modernization every year. These include new workshops, laboratories, dormitory insulation and reconstruction of institutions," Svyrydenko emphasized.

In addition, the law allows for free education in another profession, advanced training or retraining throughout life. The law also provides for dual vocational education.

According to the document, students will be provided with free accommodation in dormitories or transportation to educational institutions.

At the same time, the law introduces new mechanisms for the implementation of vocational education, taking into account the implementation of the New Ukrainian School reform, including the transition to three-year specialized secondary education starting in 2027.
