The United States will invest $80 billion in the construction of Westinghouse nuclear reactors

The US government, Brookfield and Cameco have announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the deployment of nuclear power in America. The deal will see the construction of $80 billion worth of nuclear reactors using Westinghouse Electric Company technology. The project is aimed at providing energy to data centers and developing artificial intelligence. This was reported to by Cameco.
At the center of the new strategic partnership is the construction of at least $80 billion worth of nuclear reactors across the United States using Westinghouse nuclear technology.
In October 2022, Brookfield and Cameco entered into a strategic partnership to acquire Westinghouse.
"This partnership with the U.S. government will help unlock the potential that Westinghouse and nuclear power can play to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence in the United States while meeting growing electricity demand and energy security needs on a large scale," said Connor Teskey, President of Brookfield Asset Management.
Each Westinghouse AP1000 two-unit project creates or supports 45,000 manufacturing and engineering jobs in 43 states. National deployment will create more than 100,000 construction jobs.
Once built, the reactors will generate reliable and safe electricity, in particular for data center and computing systems that will stimulate the growth of artificial intelligence in America.
- In July, it became known that Westinghouse, which has committed to build nine AP1000 reactors in Ukraine , , plans to build ten of the same reactors in the United States.
