Three Ukrainians file for bankruptcy every day: 577 cases recorded in six months

In the first six months of 2025, 577 Ukrainians have already filed for bankruptcy, which is 33% more than in the same period last year. About this writes Opendatabot with reference to the Supreme Court data.
Over the past five years, more than 2,948 Ukrainians have gone bankrupt in Ukraine. Most insolvency filings were made last year (926 cases), but 2025 risks catching up with these figures.
On average, the courts receive three new insolvency petitions every day.
This year, 52% of applicants are men and 48% are women. The gender difference is not critical, but it persists almost every year.

The largest number of bankrupts was recorded in Kyiv (128 cases), Kyiv region (83) and Lviv (73).

Bankruptcy specialist Denys Lykhopiok emphasized that bankruptcy proceedings are not a way to easily write off debts, but a legal process with long-term consequences for financial reputation.
According to him, it is gradually becoming more predictable, but still needs to be improved, in particular in terms of tax consequences and interaction with enforcement proceedings.
- In September 2023, in Kharkiv a champagne factory was declared bankrupt.
