President of the United States Donald Trump reacted sharply to the research by Goldman Sachs economists, who predict that in the fall, most of the costs of increased customs tariffs will be borne by consumers. About writes CNN.

In Truth Social, Trump addressed the bank's chairman, David Solomon: "I think David should find himself a new economist or maybe he should just focus on his career as a DJ and not worry about running a large financial institution.".

He also added: "The tariffs have not caused inflation or other problems for America, except for the huge amounts of cash flowing into the coffers of the U.S. Treasury Department."

Goldman Sachs did not respond to a comment. The author of the report, the bank's chief economist Jan Hatzius, predicts that the share of tariff costs covered by consumers will increase from 22% in June to 67% in October.

The economist is known for predicting in 2023 that the US economy would not enter a recession, when most of his colleagues expected a downturn.

Despite Trump's introduction of new tariffs in recent months, inflationary pressures remain moderate. In July, prices increased by 0.2%, and annual inflation remained at 2.7%, according to the Consumer Price Index.
