On Wednesday, October 22, the UK government issued a special license allowing British companies and banks to continue cooperation with two German subsidiaries of the sanctioned Rosneft company. About writes Reuters.

We are talking about Rosneft Deutschland GmbH and RN Refining & Marketing GmbH, which are currently under German control until at least March 2026.

Last week, Britain introduced a new package of sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil, accusing these companies of financing Russia's war against Ukraine.

However, the British authorities have made an exception for two German divisions of the Russian oil company, as they are not actually controlled by Moscow – Berlin took them under state control in September 2022 after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The so-called "trusteeship" allows the German government to manage Rosneft's shares in the country's key refineries – PCK Schwedt, MiRo and Bayernoil.

This regime is renewed every six months to guarantee stable energy supplies.
