Ukraine has been elected a member of the Administrative Council and the Postal Operations Council of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). About this said press service of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.

The decision was made during the 28th Universal Postal Congress held in Dubai (UAE).

The Congress was attended by the Ukrainian delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Andriy Bratus, which included representatives of the Ministry of Development and Ukrposhta.

During his speech, Bratus reminded that the UPU was created to develop international cooperation and improve postal services, but today one of the organization's members, Russia, is grossly violating these principles.

He thanked Denmark and 32 other countries that supported Ukraine and opposed the election of Russia and Belarus to the governing bodies of the Air Force.

The joint statement says that a state waging an aggressive war against another member of the Air Force and a country complicit in that war cannot apply for key positions in the organization.

Among the main topics of this year's Congress were the modernization of postal services in the world, improving the quality of service, remuneration in the context of e-commerce growth, development of inclusive services, sustainability of postal networks, etc.
