Ukraine is updating its metallogenic map at a scale of 1:500,000, which was last updated 23 years ago, and will complete the State Geological Map-200 program. Deputy Minister of Economy Yehor Perelyhin agreed on this with the leadership of the British Geological Survey during a working meeting, reports Ministry of Economy.

Ukraine and Great Britain plan to formalize cooperation in geology and mining. A working meeting between the Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, Yehor Perelygin, and representatives of the British Geological Survey (BGS) ended with an agreement to prepare a memorandum between the two geological services.

The BGS is the UK's national geoscience institution, which is involved in geological mapping, mineral resource assessment, and geological hazard analysis.

In addition to mapping, the parties agreed to develop training and professional development programs for Ukrainian geologists.

They also plan to create a joint task force to coordinate projects in the field of critical minerals and safe mining. Large service companies will be involved in the group's work to advise on priorities, improve approaches to calculating reserves, and enhance the quality of geological information.
