Zelenskyy: Heating season will officially start in Ukraine on October 28

The heating season in Ukraine will officially start on Tuesday, October 28, although heating of social institutions in some communities has already begun. This was stated by the President during a conversation with journalists Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reports the correspondent LIGA.net.
Zelensky emphasized that gas imports currently depend only on financial support.
The President noted that the government has already found about 70% of the money needed to import gas, which is necessary for a stable heating season. According to him, the government will provide the required amount in full.
Regarding electricity supply, Zelensky said that the situation in the country is generally stabilizing, but the most difficult is in Sumy region, particularly in Shostka.
At the same time, the decision to turn on heating in Ukraine is made by local authorities based on data from meteorological services. According to the regulations, the average daily air temperature must remain below +8°C for three consecutive days.
In Kyiv, the heating season for hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and other social institutions began on October 3. Currently, heat is supplied based on individual requests from institutions.
- On October 6, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine will have to increase gas imports due to Russian shelling.
- On October 10, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said that the city will not be able to start the heating season in October due to the lack of sufficient gas.
- On October 21, it was reported that Ukrenergo hopes to launch heating within ten days.
