Court lifts arrest from Yanukovych's former residence in Mezhyhirya
The High Anti-Corruption Court has lifted the seizure of Viktor Yanukovych's former residence in Mezhyhirya and the land plot on which the complex is located. This was reported by the civil society organization Transparency International Ukraine.
A representative of the Cabinet of Ministers has filed a motion to lift the seizure of the property of the fourth president of Ukraine.
"Yanukovych's defense lawyers objected to the lifting of the arrest, as they believe that it is necessary to wait for the final decision in the case. However, the judge ruled to cancel the arrest," the NGO said.
In 2023, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law that returned Mezhyhiria to state ownership with the official name "Park-Monument of Landscape Gardening Art of National Importance Mezhyhiria".
The decision of the HACC judge to lift the arrest from the residence can be considered the last step before its final transfer to state ownership, writes the NGO.
"In addition, the presiding judge said that at the next hearings Yanukovych's case will be considered on the merits," the report says .
