Czech Republic's largest defense company is launching ammunition production in Ukraine
One of the largest arms suppliers to Ukraine, the Czech company Excalibur Army, has officially opened its representative office in Kyiv and is launching ammunition production in Ukraine. This was announced reported the Czechoslovak Group (CSG) holding company, which includes Excalibur Army.
Excalibur Army has been working with Ukraine since the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion. The company has already delivered over a thousand pieces of equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including with tanks, IFVs, artillery systems and missile launchers, as well as over 2 million rounds of large-caliber ammunition.
"The new office is not just a symbol – it's a practical step towards faster decision-making, seamless logistics, and closer communication with our partners on the ground," said Excalibur Army Marketing Director Jan Kratky.
The company's main activity in Ukraine will be the joint production of artillery ammunition, including 155 mm shells, which has been started in cooperation with the Ukrainian company Ukrainian Armor (LLC "Ukrainian Armor").
The parties signed a memorandum of cooperation in 2024 and plan to start production in 2025.
"We are ready to supply over 100,000 rounds of various types of 155-mm ammunition and 50,000 rounds of 105-mm ammunition as soon as we receive a state order," said Vladislav Belbas, director of the company "Ukrainian Armored Technology".
This is a large-scale program for the production of NATO-standard ammunition, which envisages licensed production of various calibers in Ukraine. In the initial stage, more than 50% of production will be localized, and this figure is planned to be increased to 80% in the future.
