NABU case involving ex-MP Hranovskyi sent to court
The case of a former MP Alexey Granovsky the case of corruption at the Odesa Portside Plant (OPP) has been brought to court. This was reported by National Anti-Corruption Bureau і Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
The scheme operated between March and December 2015, resulting in losses of over UAH 94 million for the OPP. The NABU and the SAPO launched the investigation in October 2016.
According to the investigation, in 2015, the OPP entered into several agreements with Newscope Estates for the sale of ammonia and urea. The NABU and SAPO believe that this company acted as a "gasket," the OPP did not actually supply them with anything, and the contracts deliberately underestimated the cost of fertilizers.
The fertilizers were then allegedly sold at market price to real buyers, while the OPP directly shipped them fertilizers. The participants in the scheme withdrew the difference in price to their respective accounts.
In March 2020, the NABU reported suspicions to the first four defendants of the case: Olha Tkachenko, a trustee of the former MP, Stepan Kiminchida, Deputy Director and Head of the OPP Department, and Pavlo Chumak, owner of a non-resident company that was a participant in the corruption scheme.
In October 2022 NABU suspicion of a corruption scheme, that was in effect at OPP in 2015, Granovsky himself received the award in absentia.
Hranovsky, his assistant Tkachenko and Chumak are on the wanted list. They were investigated in absentia.
October 4, 2024 the investigation in the case was completed and opened the materials to the defense for review.
