The world's largest chain wants to increase the number of Ukrainian goods on its shelves
Walmart, the world's largest retail chain, plans to expand the presence of Ukrainian goods on its store shelves. About this reported james Charles Slattery, former U.S. Congressman and President of Capital Hills, told Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, Walmart's management is impressed with the quality of Ukrainian products.
"Your goods are of world-class quality, so we have to be aggressive in our policy of bringing Ukrainian goods to the US market."slattery said.
According to Capital Hills Supervisory Board Chairman Mykhailo Zhovner, Woodandhearts, a manufacturer of wooden toys based on the Montessori method, was the first Ukrainian brand that Walmart became interested in.
Initially, the products were sold only on the marketplace, and now they are sold directly in the chain's stores.
Walmart also already has another Ukrainian toy brand, and is in talks to enter the frozen food industry.
The emphasis is primarily on unique competitive products that are potentially important for Walmart. For example, it was the retailer's representatives who expanded the order line for a company that initially approached them with an ice cream item.
Capital Hills, together with EQUITY law firm, provides full support to Ukrainian producers – from consulting to contracting and organizing supplies.
Slattery emphasized that the 100% increase in import duties for China creates additional benefits for Ukrainian companies.
Walmart is an American company with more than 10,750 stores in 19 countries. The chain serves about 270 million customers every week, and its turnover in 2024 amounted to $648 billion.
- In January, the US Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit against Pepsi through the sale of its beverages at preferential prices for the Walmart retail chain.
