Oleksandr Tsyvynskyi, a candidate for the post of director of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES), has agreed to take a polygraph to remove all doubts about his appointment. About said prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.

According to Svyrydenko, the tender committee has already made a decision, and the government has received the results of additional inspections.

"We are all interested in the BES becoming an effective institution and enjoying real trust – the trust of business and the entire Ukrainian society," the Prime Minister said.

According to her, the polygraph should completely eliminate the possibility of manipulation around the contest.

It is expected that a decision will be made next week that will "allow to update the work of the BES" and improve relations between the state and business.

  • For the first time, the BES Director Selection Commission recommended to the government tsyvinsky's candidacy june 25. Three international members of the commission voted in favor of it, while all three state representatives were against it.
  • July 7, the Cabinet of Ministers canceled the results of the competition referring to additional materials, in particular from the Security Service of Ukraine.
  • On July 23, the commission re-introduced to the government to nominate Mr. Tsyvinsky. However, at a meeting on July 30, the day before the deadline in accordance with the IMF memorandum, the Cabinet of Ministers did not appoint the BES director. Members of the competition commission for the selection of the director of the Bureau of Economic Security see no alternative to the appointment of Tsyvinsky.
  • On August 31, Oleksandr Tsyvynskyi stated that the Security Service of Ukraine did not express any official reservationsthat could have prevented his appointment.
