New car market in August showed the best result in 11 months: popular brands

In August 2025, Ukrainians purchased about 6,800 new passenger cars, which is 16% less than in the same period last year. About reports Ukravtoprom.

At the same time, Ukravtoprom notes that a year ago, the market was in great demand due to the expectation of an additional 15% tax on car purchases.

At the same time, compared to July 2025, the market showed an increase of 5%. Thus, the result of August 2025 was a record for the last 11 months.

Toyota became the sales leader. Ukrainians purchased 999 units of these cars. BYD is in second place (860 cars), and Renault is in third place (529 cars).

The top ten most popular car brands in August also included the following:

• Volkswagen – 527 cars;
• Skoda – 407 cars;
• Hyundai – 393 cars;
• BMW – 337 cars;
• Honda – 328 cars;
• Suzuki – 231 cars;
• Audi – 225 cars.

The best-selling car of the month was the Renault Duster compact crossover. 486 units of these cars were purchased.

Since the beginning of 2025, 46,000 new passenger cars have already been registered in Ukraine, which is 3% less than in the same period last year.

• In July 2025, the vehicle fleet of Ukraine more than 2,600 hybrid passenger cars were added to the fleet (HEV and PHEV), up 11% year-on-year.
• Last month, Ukraine also sales of electric vehicles increased – by almost 50%.
