The Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine (EBI) is investigating a smuggling scheme involving vehicles imported from the European Union under the guise of humanitarian aid, using documents from charitable organizations. The EBI and the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported this on Monday, November 25.

The cars were declared as humanitarian aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (exempt from customs duties) but were later sold to regular buyers online for cash instead of being delivered to the military.

In total, more than 700 vehicles were imported in 2024. During searches in the Lviv Oblast, authorities seized 17 vehicles that had not yet been sold.

The scheme involved citizens of Ukraine and Moldova. The actions have been classified as smuggling of excise goods.
