The fast-food chain KFC will begin opening restaurants in medium-sized regional cities with populations of 50,000–100,000. The first location will be in Kolomyia, LIGA.net reports, citing the press service of Ukrainian KFC franchisees (Testi Food LLC, Global Restaurant Group – Ukraine LLC, DTS-Kharkiv LLC).

Until now, KFC has opened restaurants in smaller towns only if they were suburbs of larger metropolitan areas, such as Sokilnyky, Gostomel, Vyshhorod, and Sofiyivska Borshchahivka.

"Kolomyia is part of KFC’s updated 2025 investment program, which aims for a balanced geographic expansion not only into regional centers but also into promising cities of 50,000–100,000 residents. We chose Kolomyia because we see strong potential for brand growth here. It is a vibrant regional city with active commercial life, steady traffic, and growing demand for modern services," KFC said.

The Kolomyia restaurant will open in the Galeria Korzo shopping center (30a Chornovola St.), next to the Pysanka Museum.

By the end of 2025, the company also plans to launch at least two more restaurants: in Ternopil (28 Tektylna St., Podolyany shopping center) and in Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region.

"We expect the new restaurants to deliver solid results from their first months of operation," the company added.

As of September 2025, KFC operates 68 restaurants in Ukraine, 20 of which have opened since the start of the full-scale invasion. In 2025 alone, franchisees have launched four new restaurants, including two in Odesa on August 22 and August 28.

According to KFC, each restaurant creates around 25 jobs, providing employment opportunities for both young people and experienced professionals in the region.

  • Meanwhile, Hesburger, Finland’s largest fast-food chain, plans to open at least ten restaurants in western Ukraine over the next five years, with total investment reaching €12 million.
