Trump extends 50% duties on steel and aluminum imports: adds 407 product codes

According to the US Department of Commerce, the Bureau of Industry and Security has added 407 new product codes to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.
This means that products containing steel or aluminum will be subject to duties at the rates already established. The new tariffs will come into force on August 18.
At the same time, the document clarifies that if the goods contain other materials, they will also be subject to duty in accordance with the country of origin.
Speaking to journalists on board Air Force One, President Trump also said that he was preparing additional announcements not only on steel imports but also on semiconductors.
