Apple is developing a new AI gadget for the home. It is planned to be released by the end of 2025
Apple is actively working on creating a smart home device with elements of robotics and built-in artificial intelligence, Bloomberg reports.
The main idea is a device with a display similar in size to an iPad, which can move on a robotic "arm" across a table.
The project has the internal codename J595 and is part of Apple's strategy to create a new generation of AI devices.
Apple is also developing a simplified version – the J490 smart screen, which will have no moving elements.
It's expected to be released by the end of 2025, but has been delayed several times due to Siri issues. The mobile version may arrive even later, perhaps in a year or two.
The device will use Apple's own large-scale language models, allowing it to have an intuitive AI character that can interact with the user more naturally.
The gadget is expected to become part of the Apple Intelligence system, an updated platform with elements of generative artificial intelligence.
Apple is also preparing this new product with an eye on integrating it into the iPhone, iPad, HomePod, and Vision Pro ecosystem, which should provide a convenient user experience and rapid distribution among brand fans.
Analysts have previously warned that iPhone prices in the US could rise sharply given Apple's high reliance on imports from China, a major device manufacturing hub that is subject to Trump's highest tariff rate of 125%.
Bloomberg wrote that the American technology giant Apple, due to the US trade war with a number of countries , found itself on the verge of the most severe crisis since Covid.
The WSJ reported that Apple is considering raising iPhone prices, but is afraid to attribute this to the impact of tariffs.
