Beer from German producers Krombacher and Veltins will increase in price in the fall
Two major German breweries – Krombacher and Veltins – have announced price increases for both bottled and draft beer, German weekly magazine Spiegel reported.
According to company representatives, the reason for the price increase lies in the increase in production costs.
The price increase will affect not only retail chains that purchase beer wholesale, but also restaurants and bars.
Krombacher, the most popular beer brand in Germany, last raised prices in the spring of 2023. The new price increase will take effect on October 1, 2025.
At the same time, the company will also increase prices for soft drinks, in particular Schweppes.
Another large brewery, Veltins, will raise prices from October 16, 2025. The last time the company raised prices was over two years ago.
"Due to increasing costs, we want to invest with equal intensity in catering and retail," said a Veltins representative.
Although the specific amounts of the price increase are not disclosed, market experts suggest that the cost of a box of 20 0.5 liter bottles could increase by approximately 1 euro.
- In 2024, beer sales in Germany fell to their lowest level since reunification in 1990, to 8.3 billion liters.
