EU increases quotas on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products
The European Union has increased quotas on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products as part of the updated free trade agreement. About this writes Reuters.
In particular, the import quota for Ukrainian wheat increased from 1 million tons to 1.3 million tons, sugar from 20,000 tons to 100,000 tons, barley from 350,000 tons to 450,000 tons, and poultry from 90,000 tons to 120,000 tons.
These changes were part of a new preliminary trade agreement that the EU and Ukraine reached in late June.
The document covers 40 types of goods and has yet to be officially approved by the EU member states with a qualified majority.
After Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, the EU temporarily lifted duties and restrictions on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products, as traditional sea routes through the Black Sea were threatened.
- On June 6, the EU returned to "pre-war" rules in trade with Ukraine. The temporary easing of conditions introduced in 2022 has ceased to be valid.
