Rada approves resignation of Agriculture Minister Solskyi
On Thursday, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed the Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Solskyi, who was charged by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau on April 23.
Mykola Solskyi was elected a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Servant of the People party in 2019. In the same year, he was elected chairman of the Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.
In March 2022, he became the minister of agrarian policy and food.
Two years later, NABU indicted the official.
According to NABU, before being elected to the parliament, Solskyi organized the illegal appropriation of 2,500 hectares of state land and tried to take possession of another 3,300 hectares by destroying the documents on the basis of which these plots were used by two state-owned enterprises in Sumy Oblast. Indictment falls under Art. 191 of the Criminal Code, which provides for up to 12 years of imprisonment.
The minister does not consider himself guilty, but still resigned.
There is no candidate for the new minister of agrarian policy yet, his first deputy Taras Vysotskyi will temporarily perform the duties of the minister.
In addition to Solskyi, on May 9, the Verkhovna Rada also dismissed Oleksandr Kubrakov from the post of deputy prime minister for reconstruction, minister for communities, territories and infrastructure development.
