Ukraine's maritime corridor transports 100 million tons of cargo in 1.5 years
Ukraine's maritime corridor has successfully transported 100 million tons of cargo over the past 1.5 years, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
During this period, Ukrainian exports have reached 53 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas, with a significant focus on food exports that contribute to global food security.
"As Ukraine defends itself in this war, it also contributes to global food security through the operation of the maritime corridor. The resilience of our maritime sector is not just about the economy – it is about defending humanity," Zelenskyy said.
The president thanked Ukrainian soldiers for ensuring the safety of navigation and forcing the Russian naval fleet to leave the Black Sea. The restoration of free maritime navigation was made possible by the heroism of Ukrainian defenders, he stressed.
Key achievements:
- In the first nine months of the maritime corridor's operation, 50 million tons of cargo were shipped from the ports of Greater Odesa.
- Sunflower oil was the leading export in 2024, with $5 billion worth sold abroad.
