Russia strikes power facilities in five regions of Ukraine, causing longer outages
During the night of November 8, Russia launched large-scale strikes targeting energy infrastructure in the Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Dnipro regions, the Ministry of Energy reported.
According to Ukrenergo, emergency power outages were introduced in several regions of Ukraine. In other areas, rolling blackout schedules were expanded for industrial consumers and hourly outage schedules were applied for households.
The scale of restrictions has increased significantly — from one or two outage groups to as many as three. In Kyiv, for example, power cuts are expected to last six to seven hours at a time, whereas some lines were previously not scheduled for shutdowns at all.
The Ministry said the situation is particularly difficult in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Poltava regions.
- Tonight in Dnipro, a drone strike hit a residential high-rise building; Kremenchuk was left completely without power. In Kharkiv, the subway and electric transport stopped operating, and train delays were reported on the railway.
- According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russia used 45 missiles and 458 UAVs in the attack. A total of 26 missiles and 52 attack drones hit 25 targets, while debris fell in four locations across different regions.
