All Ukraine's nuclear power plants insured in case of nuclear incident — Energoatom
In June, the state NPP operator Energoatom signed an insurance contract for more than UAH 5 billion ($135 million) regarding damage caused by a potential nuclear incident at all four nuclear plants in Ukraine. In case of detonation of Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant temporarily occupied by the Russians, Ukraine may receive insurance compensation, reports the agency's press service.

"The contract, in particular, states that insurance coverage for the Zaporizhzhya NPP is provided with a suspensive condition after the plant is freed from the occupiers, as it is currently not controlled by Ukraine and the only legitimate operator — Energoatom," the message says.
As for all other nuclear stations operating in the territory controlled by Ukraine, insurance for nuclear damage that may be caused as a result of a nuclear incident is in full effect. Similar exclusions regarding military causes of nuclear incidents were also in force in the previous insurance agreements of Energoatom, and are a standard world practice.
The company emphasizes that it complies with all the requirements of national and international legislation regarding civil liability insurance for nuclear damage and is doing everything possible to prevent the occurrence of an insured event in the conditions of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the seizure by the terrorist state of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe — Zaporizhzhya NPP.
Energoatom notes that in accordance with the norms of the current legislation, cases of nuclear damage caused by a nuclear incident caused, in particular, by military actions, armed conflicts, civil war, uprisings, political or civil disturbances, strikes, terrorist acts are not subject to compensation.
In the event of the Zaporizhzhya NPP being detonated by the Russians, the evacuation will affect several regions.
On June 20, US President Biden called the Russian dictator's use of tactical nuclear weapons a real threat.
On June 22, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian intelligence had received information that the Russian Federation was considering a terrorist attack at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant with the release of radiation.
Headquarters were deployed in Ukraine in the event of a terrorist attack at the ZNPP. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued the first instructions.
