Ukraine informs EU of readiness to resume electricity exports
Ukraine has informed the European Union of its readiness to resume electricity exports after an almost six-month pause caused by Russian mass missile strikes, the Ministry of Energy reported Tuesday.
Minister German Galushchenko is currently in Brussels and conveyed this to Vice President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič.
"The situation with electricity generation in Ukraine has stabilized, there are reserve capacities that allow electricity to be exported to European countries," the ministry reported.
Galushchenko expects that the European ENTSO-E network will expand opportunities for import and export of electricity between Ukraine and the EU in the nearest future.
Export revenues will facilitate stabilizing the financial situation of energy companies that suffered significant losses from Russian attacks, as well as preparing for the next cold season.
Ukraine began exporting electricity to the European Union in the summer of 2022, and it quickly became one of the main export articles. Since October 11, 2022, due to Russian strikes on the energy system, exports have stopped.
Since mid-February, there has been no power deficit in Ukraine.
