This volume corresponds to the plan, the chairman of the board of the company Oleksiy Chernyshov said.

The gas injection season began on April 1. In two and a half months, Ukraine injected about 1.6 billion cubic meters into storage facilities. The pace of injection is higher than last year.

The average filling level of gas storages at the beginning of the heating seasons from 2011 to 2019, inclusive, reached 17.9 billion cubic meters, and the minimum dropped to 14.5 billion cubic meters in 2016. In 2020, at the beginning of the withdrawal season, a 10-year record of 28.3 billion cubic meters were accumulated in Ukrainian underground gas storages.

At the beginning of September 2022, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine wants to become the "gas safe" of Europe.

The European Union ended the gas withdrawal season with a 59% filling rate. This means that already this fall they can be completely filled again, while Ukrainian storage facilities will have available volumes.

In the winter of 2023-2024, for the first time, Ukraine ran on domestically produced gas.
