A gas station in the Odesa region was hit Russia is trying to stop the Trans-Balkan Gas Pipeline, a route to diversify natural gas supplies to Ukraine. About stated Ministry of Energy.

Russia carried out a targeted attack on a gas infrastructure facility – a compressor station of the Ukrainian GTS Operator in Odesa region near the Ukrainian-Romanian border – on the night of August 6.

"Russia's massive drone attack on a key compressor station on the Trans-Balkan route shows that Moscow will use all available means and levers to destroy European energy independence and alternative gas supply routes," the Energy Minister said Svitlana Hrynchuk.

This compressor station was involved in the route that connects Greek LNG terminals with Ukrainian gas storage facilities via the Trans-Balkan Gas Pipeline, which has already delivered LNG from the United States and test volumes of Azerbaijani gas.

Last night, the equipment that provides these supplies was attacked by dozens of attack drones. Experts are currently working at the site to determine the consequences of the attack.

The Russian attack on the GTS facility is a clear and understandable signal to the whole of Europe, which plans to completely abandon Russian natural gas in 2027, the Energy Minister believes.

"If the Russians are allowed to attack our energy infrastructure and gas routes with impunity, no infrastructure facility in Europe will be safe," Hrynchuk added.

The Trans-Balkan corridor goes to Ukraine from Greece (or in the case of Azerbaijani gas, Turkey) through Bulgaria, Romania, and Moldova and allows Ukraine to import gas of non-Russian origin.
