Moldova no longer buying expensive Russian gas
Moldova will no longer buy Russian gas as prices on the European market are lower than those of Gazprom, stated the Minister of Energy of Moldova Victor Parlicov, reports Anadolu Ajansı.
"We will no longer purchase natural gas from Gazprom for the territory controlled by the constitutional authorities," he said at the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Forum.
According to the minister, the republic managed to obtain gas from alternative sources by purchasing it on the European market.
"Besides, we managed to do it at a lower price than the formula we prescribed in the contract with Gazprom," added Parlicov.
Earlier, Russia's Gazprom said that Moldovagaz's debt for the supplied gas allegedly amounts to $433 million, and taking into account late payments – $709 million.
On September 20, 2023, Gazprom lost operational control over Moldova's gas transportation system.
Moldova started importing Turkish gas from October 1.
