Poland offers Slovakia to supply American gas. Ukraine is on the agenda
Poland may soon become a hub for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States to Slovakia. This was announced by Polish President Karol Navrotsky said during a visit to Bratislava on November 5, transmits PAP.
He reminded that Poland already has terminal in Świnoujście and interconnector, and soon the construction of a floating terminal on the Baltic Sea will be completed.
"We, the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, are facing an important task in which we must be united [...] – complete independence from Russian gas." said Navrotsky.
Slovak President Peter Pellegrini emphasized that the Polish president's proposal and the Polish government's actions "will allow for alternative gas supplies to Slovakia through the interconnector of our systems."
According to him, this is an opportunity to diversify Slovakia's energy supply and use the infrastructure "we have invested in together with Poland."
"Of course, if this gas is available at a good price and reasonable transit tariffs," he added.
Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár has previously said that Slovakia has there are no alternatives yet russian energy carriers at a reasonable price. Gas aid to Slovakia, which does not want to give up fuel from Russia, in October proposed by the Czech Republic.

Potential volumes of supplies to the south through Poland could reach up to 4-5 billion cubic meters of gas per year, which is roughly the same as Slovakia's annual gas consumption.
