Ukraine enters second half of heating season with adequate gas stockpiles – Naftogaz
Gas reserves in Ukrainian storage facilities are sufficient for the successful completion of the heating season, reported the press service of Naftogaz of Ukraine.
"This is already the second winter in the conditions of a full-scale invasion. And the first in the entire history of independence, which we are going through relying on our own gas production," the message of the state oil and gas company reads.
12.3 million consumers of the Naftogaz Ukraine gas supply company continue to receive gas. In particular, 1,242 contracts were concluded with 449 energy utility companies (TKE) and 793 condominium associations.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal previously noted that half of the winter is already behind and thanks to the preliminary training and professionalism of the energy workers, the energy system is going through it successfully.
The heating season usually lasts about six months and ends in mid-April.
In 2023, 86 new wells were put into operation. 24 of them have an initial flow rate of more than 100,000 cubic meters per day. The most powerful well was launched in April 2023, with a production rate of 580,000 cubic meters per day.
