The Russian state corporation Rosatom has finally ceased its operations in the Czech Republic, Radio Prague International reports.

The local branch of the company was removed from the commercial register, and its employees were fired earlier. In addition, a communication agency that cooperated with Rosatom also ceased its activities, leaving debts.

Earlier, Rosatom applied for a tender to build a new power unit at the Dukovany NPP, but the Czech government excluded the Russian concern from this tender after the Russian GRU's role in the explosion at the Vrbětice ammunition depot was revealed.

Until recently, a plant of Rosatom's Hungarian subsidiary operated in the Czech Republic, which functioned as the company's center in Central Europe. However, Rosatom itself has not been operating in the Czech Republic for several months. According to Denník N, the company vacated its offices in Prague at the end of last year.

In December 2022, the President's Office announced that Ukraine would seek international sanctions against the Russian corporation Rosatom. Currently, Ukraine is the only country in the world that has imposed sanctions against Rosatom.
