Three Ukrainian TPP units put into emergency repair simultaneously

The Ukrainian energy system was temporarily left without four power units. On October 18, three units at thermal power plants were taken out for emergency repairs, and one more for scheduled repairs, reported Ukrenergo.

"Despite this, the electricity produced by Ukrainian power plants is sufficient to meet the needs of all household and legal consumers," the state power transmission system operator said in a statement.

Ukrenergo sees no reason for restrictions in the energy system if there are no new attacks. Consumption limits were not introduced.

According to the operator, due to hostilities and other reasons, 431 settlements remain without electricity. Due to technical reasons, there is a blackout for consumers in Odesa Oblast, where repair work is ongoing.

As a result of enemy strikes, there is damage to Oblenergo networks in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson oblasts. Emergency recovery works are carried out depending on the security situation and with the permission of the military.

Electricity consumption in Ukraine is increasing with the onset of cold weather. On Wednesday, the average daily temperature was 0.8°C lower than on Tuesday (5.4°C vs. 6.2°C). The daily maximum of consumption was in the evening, between 7 and 8 p.m. – 0.7% higher than the daily maximum of Tuesday.

Currently, electricity is being imported from Slovakia and Moldova. The total volume is 522 MWh, with maximum capacity in certain hours up to 312 MW.

Exports are carried out to Slovakia and Moldova at night (the period of daily minimum consumption) with a total volume of 1,090 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 200 MW in certain hours.

The Ministry of Energy predicts that Russia will resume attacks on energy infrastructure with the onset of cold weather.
