The Cabinet of Ministers will keep a fixed gas price for household consumers – Zelenskyy
The Cabinet of Ministers will soon adopt a resolution to maintain a fixed price for natural gas for household consumers. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said after the meeting with the Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.
"We also discussed the situation in the gas sector, building up gas reserves and supplying people. We agreed that in the near future the government will adopt a resolution that will maintain a fixed price for natural gas for household consumers," wrote Zelensky on Telegram on Tuesday.
In April, the gas supply company "Naftogaz of Ukraine announced that its annual gas tariff for residential customers "Fixed" for the period from May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026 inclusive will remain at UAH 7.96 per cubic meter (including VAT).
Naftogaz of Ukraine supplies gas to 12.5 million households.
Through massive Russian attacks on gas facilities Ukraine plans to increase gas imports by about 30%, says Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk.
"We are planning to increase our import capacity by another 30 percent, if we manage to do so... It will all depend on how well we can recover. We need to thank our electricians and gas workers: they are probably the fastest restorers in the world. The sooner we manage to restore the facilities, the less imports we will need," he said citation minister to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
The Ministry of Energy discussed Ukraine's key needs on the eve of winter in the face of constant Russian shelling with the ambassadors of the Group of Seven (G7) countries.
