Transcarpathian wind farm produced the first 25 million kilowatt-hours of "green" energy
A wind farm in the Nyzhnivoritska community in Zakarpattia has generated the first 25 million kilowatt-hours of clean energy for the Ukrainian power grid. About it reported deputy Head of the Presidential Office Viktor Mykyta.
According to him, Friendly Windtechnology LLC, which is implementing the project, ensures the production of 30 wind turbines per year with a unit capacity of 4.8 to 5.5 MW and the potential to increase capacity to 100 wind turbines per year.
The company's overall plan includes the construction of more than 1.5 GW of wind farms.
Zakarpattia is already a leader among Ukrainian regions in terms of new wind capacity: in the first half of this year alone, the region added 19 MW.
Mykyta noted that the development of such projects is part of the strategy to decentralize the energy system and improve the country's energy security.
This allows communities and regions to form their own generation sources to ensure stable power supply even in crisis conditions.
- In August 2024, in Transcarpathia the first wind power plant was launched. At that time, it was operating in test mode with a capacity of 1.8 MW.
- In December, it was reported that a wind farm in Zakarpattia produced its first million kilowatt-hours of electricity.
