On April 1, the gas storage operator of Ukraine, Ukrtransgaz, started a new season of injecting gas into underground gas storage facilities, reported the press service of Naftogaz of Ukraine.

"The end of the withdrawal season and the start of gas injection into Ukrainian UGSFs marks the end of the heating season," said Oleksiy Chernyshov, head of the Naftogaz board.

During the withdrawal season, which started on November 7, 2023, 8.5 billion cubic meters of gas were taken from UGSFs, of which Ukraine used 6.7 billion cubic meters. Part of the gas was stored in Ukrainian warehouses by European traders.

In total, the gas withdrawal season lasted 145 days.

In 2023, the gas withdrawal season ended a little later – on April 17.

At the beginning of September 2022, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine wants to become the "gas safe" of Europe.

In the winter of 2023-2024, for the first time, Ukraine ran on domestically produced gas.
