Yesterday, Ukrenergo held the first joint auctions for the allocation of access to interstate interconnectors between Ukraine and Hungary on the European universal distribution platform JAO (Joint Allocation Office).

Introduction of joint auctions is carried out to fulfil EU requirements regarding the reform of the Ukrainian electricity market.

According to the Ukrainian energy company, on the morning of February 23, electricity was exported to Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, Romania and Moldova with a total volume of 2,793 MWh.

The import is planned in the morning and evening hours from Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Poland, and in the night hours – from Moldova with a total volume of 1,018 MWh.

From November 2023, joint daily auctions between Ukraine and Romania will take place on the Ukrenergo auction platform.

On January 16, 2024, auctions were held for the first time for the distribution of access to the capacity of interstate interconnectors between Ukraine and Poland.
