"This is a critically important raw material for extraction, preparation, and transportation of natural gas, and it has already been delivered to Ukraine," said Oleksiy Chernyshov, head of the Naftogaz Group.
Methanol is supplied with the support of European partners.
Reference. Methanol is used to prevent hydrate formation in gas pipelines during gas extraction and transportation, as well as for testing new wells and wells after overhaul. Ukrgazvydobuvannya's methanol needs are 28,000 tons per year. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine has completely switched to purchasing methanol from European suppliers.
In 2022, Equinor became the largest supplier of natural gas to Europe, taking the lead from Russia's Gazprom.
