UP: NABU searches Shurma's house near Munich
In Germany, searches were conducted in the house of former Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Rostyslav Shurma. This was reported by and Ukrayinska Pravda, citing sources among MPs.
"On the morning of July 15, Shurma called one of the high-ranking employees of the Presidential Office and said that NABU detectives, together with German law enforcement officers, had searched his residence in the suburbs of Munich and seized his phone," the publication says .
UP writes that the searches of Shurma were one of the last straws for President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who in a week will publicly accuse NABU and SAPO of "inefficiency" and sign a law on significant restrictions on the independence of these bodies.
The President's Office is concerned that German law enforcement officers, who "are known to not agree to such measures without a thorough check of all the proper legal grounds," are involved in the investigation at Shurma's house .
Shurma in the Office of President Zelensky was in charge of the economic bloc.
In August 2023, Bihus.Info journalists reported that solar power plants under Russian occupation, co-owned by the entourage of Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Rostyslav Shurma, , were paid at the "green tariff" until the summer of 2023, although they probably had no connection to the unified energy system of Ukraine.
In particular, we are talking about KD Energy 2 LLC and Renewable Energy Zaporizhzhia LLC, co-owned by Rostyslav Shurma's brother, Oleh Shurma. And the co-owner of two more companies – Green Energy Tokmak LLC and Grandpower LLC – is Ruslan Bozhko, a former subordinate of Rostyslav Shurma, who is considered a close person to him.
According to journalists, from July 2022 to July 23, these companies collectively received more than UAH 320 million in payments for electricity at the "green tariff" from the state-owned enterprise Guaranteed Buyer.
Shurma confirmed that his brother received payment from the State Enterprise "Guaranteed Buyer" for electricity from solar power plants located in the occupied territories, but it was not only him, but "all other companies" who did it.
Later, Ukrenergo said that Ukraine does not pay owners of SPPs in the occupied territories, and NABU began investigating state payments to occupied SPPs from Shurma's orbit.
According to UP's sources in political and business circles, in 2024, representatives of the US State Department seriously considered imposing sanctions against Shurma for his excessive influence on Ukraine's economy. And allegedly, this is the only reason why Shurma asked to resign .
After his resignation, Shurma, a father of three minor children, left Ukraine and went to Germany, where his family has lived since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
Rostyslav Shurma's brother Oleh also left the country, having received a reason after the birth of his third child. He is also involved in the above-mentioned NABU and SAPO case.
