"This incident once again draws attention to the threats posed by the Russian occupation of the largest nuclear facility in Europe. The permanent deployment of Russian military equipment and personnel on the territory of ZNPP, as well as continuous psychological pressure on the Ukrainian personnel of the plant is a gross violation of international law and the fundamental principles of nuclear safety," the Ministry of Energy noted.

"Any provocations or military actions at the industrial site of Zaporizhzhya NPP could lead to unpredictable and catastrophic consequences for the entire continent," the Ukrainian ministry emphasized.

The Ministry of Energy called the demilitarization and de-occupation of ZNPP and its return to control the only way to restore nuclear safety Energoatom.

The Russian side did not officially comment on the incident.
