Backup bridge to Ryasne to be built in Lviv for UAH 107.5m, contract awarded to Onur
A backup bridge connecting the Ryasne neighborhood will be built in Lviv for UAH 107.5 million. On Monday, February 9, Onur Construction International signed a contract with Lvivavtodor for the construction of a new overpass at the intersection of Shevchenko and Omelyana Kovcha streets, according to the Lviv City Council.
The new overpass is intended to reduce the load on the old Austrian-era bridge that connects Ryasne with the city center and to provide a transit route toward the European border.
Under the contract, the contractor will build a new overpass 32 meters long. It will have three traffic lanes: two lanes from Ryasne toward central Lviv—one leading to the city center and one toward Varshavska Street—and one lane from the center of Lviv toward Ryasne.
Once the new bridge is completed, the old bridge, which has been in poor condition since 2008, is to be closed for reconstruction.
In the future, the city also plans to build a roundabout at this location.
The standard construction period is 11 months. Preparatory works are expected to begin in the first half of March after the necessary permits are obtained.
The project will be financed through budgetary funds and loan financing under a credit agreement with Oschadbank.
Onur Construction International was the only bidder in the tender. According to the mayor’s office, several previous tenders failed due to the technical complexity of the project.
- In October 2025, Onur was awarded a contract worth UAH 502 million for the overhaul of a 1.75-kilometer section of road in Kyiv. In April, the company won a tender for emergency repairs to part of the Northern Bridge crossing in Kyiv, on a section over the Desenka River, valued at UAH 185.35 million.
- In 2024–2025, Onur also carried out emergency works on Kyiv’s Metro Bridge, installing supports designed to extend the bridge’s service life by up to 20 years without major repairs.
