EasyJet may reopen flights to Ukraine after peace deal
Leading low-cost airlines in Europe are ready to promptly launch flights to Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement, and not only Wizz Air і Ryanair who reported this earlier, but also EasyJet, although it has not previously flown to Ukrainian airports, writes Financial Times.
CEO Kenton Jarvis called the country potentially "Europe's biggest construction project," adding that people "will want to come home when it's safe."
"Operationally, air traffic control can be launched quite quickly, it all depends on the condition of the airports and runways, as well as on ensuring that the terminals operate in accordance with the highest safety standards," he said.
Unlike Wizz and Ryanair, EasyJet has no plans to base its aircraft in Ukraine in the short term.
- In April 2025, the Ukrainian SkyUp Airlines resumed regular flights for the first time since 2022. Since the skies over Ukraine are closed to civil aviation, the company operates flights from Chisinau.
