First 30 empty trucks cross Poland's 'Uhryniv-Dolgobyczow' checkpoint
On the Ukrainian-Polish border, border guards processed 30 trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons at the "Uhryniv-Dolgobyczow" checkpoint, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported.
Trucks enter the checkpoint in the order of the general queue.
"Uhryniv-Dolgobyczow" is a joint checkpoint, which usually worked only for passenger vehicles and buses.
As the Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov noted the day before, from Monday, empty trucks, including fuel tanks, will be able to go to Poland through this checkpoint. While it will work in test mode, truckers do not need to register in the queue for crossing the border. Inspectors from the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety, Ukrtransbezpeka, will maintain traffic order and help drivers if necessary.
The throughput capacity per day will be more than 100 trucks.
Since November 6, Polish carriers have been protesting at the border crossings with Ukraine in Dorohusk, Hrebenne (Lublin Voivodeship) and Korczowa (Podkarpackie Voivodeship). Protesters let several vehicles pass per hour and demand commercial permits for Ukrainian transport companies, with the exception of humanitarian aid and items for the Ukrainian army.
Farmers have also been protesting at the Medyka crossing since November 23. On Monday, they announced that the protest at this checkpoint will continue until January 3, 2024.
From Friday, following the example of the Poles, one of the Slovak associations of carriers - UNAS - began to block its border.
